The Chicago Modern Quilt Guild is pleased to host Sheri Cifaldi-Morill this month

September 6, 2019

We are delighted that this month Sheri Cifaldi-Morill of Whole Circle Studios will be presenting both a workshop and a lecture!

Sheri Cifaldi-Morrill is a designer, award-winning quilter and educator. With the help of books and the Internet, she taught herself how to sew and discovered her love of designing and making quilts. As a trained and practicing graphic designer, her quilts start with a concept and research shapes the design. Her work is inspired by her everyday life and experiences. Sheri strives to enhance people’s everyday lives through beautiful meaningful design. Through sharing her work and teaching, she loves to empower and inspire others to enjoy the process of making.
Sheri works from her home studio in the suburbs of New Haven, Connecticut—a hop, skip and jump away from New York City. Learn more about Sheri and her work at www.wholecirclestudio.com and on Instagram at @wholecirclestudio.

On Saturday, September 21, Sheri will teach a workshop:

Layered Hawaiian Inspired Applique Workshop
Learn how to make the Island Bloom block, a modern Hawaiian inspired appliqued mini quilt with multiple layers of applique. In this workshop, you will learn how to prepare the applique (including folding, cutting and basting) and how to apply the motifs using needle-turn applique techniques. Learn how Sheri designed the block and how you can design custom templates for future projects. We’ll also review quilting tips. By the end of class, students will have most of the first layer basted and start practicing needle-turn applique. Finished size of project is approximately 24″ x 24″.

There is a $6 for material fee for the pre-cut template pattern/handouts payable to instructor at the time of the workshop. (cash only please)

Guild members should have received an email with registration information.  Please let us know if you did not!

On Sunday, September 22, Sheri will present a lecture during our regular guild meeting.
