September Meeting Recap

October 1, 2019

We welcomed Sheri Cifaldi-Morrill of Whole Circle Studios.   We were inspired by Sheri’s process and her quilts (she brought a lot of them).  There are many posts on social media posted by CMQG, Sheri and our members go look if you were unable to join us.  Members who attended her Hawaiian Applique workshop the previous day brought their creations, they are going to be stunning!  Many of our workshops like this one are taught by quilters who teach around the US and QuiltCon, we are so lucky to have a few of them travel to us here in the Chicago area.

Upcoming Meetings
October 20, 2:00-5:00, Rush Oak Park Hospital
Curved Piecing Demo
Learn different techniques, including the curved letters design for our QuiltCon Charity project.  Curves do not need to be scary, even though this is our October meeting.

October 25-28
Fall Retreat at Cedar Lake Ministry-New Fall Location for 2019
We have a few openings.  If you want to get away and work on your own projects and not cook this is it!   We are now opening this retreat to nonmembers, an email will be sent soon to all members, please forward the message on other friends who may want to come.  If you have any questions, please contact Retreat Chair Katie Cooper or email the guild.

December 15, 2019, 2:00-5:00, Rush Oak Park Hospital
Holiday Potluck and Swap-Bring a dish to share and a small sewn item for a blind swap! Make sure your small sewn item does not take more than two hours to make, and for extra fun, include Hawaiian applique, curved piecing, or zippers, all of which we will be learning about at this fall’s meetings.  Please remember we all do not all celebrate the same holidays, so no holiday fabric/themes.  Most members prefer an item they can use all year long.

Annual Member Truck Show this meeting is always a favorite to learn about your fellow members and be inspired by their work.
