On the Blog: September Meeting Recap!

September 27, 2015

**REMINDER: We are still taking participants for the October 17 workshop on foundation paper piecing with Amy Garro – click {here} to learn more information and to register!

Our September meeting was full of excitement and learning, as we received some swap quilts from another modern quilt guild, and several of our members demonstrated small projects, ideal for gift giving.

Member Amy Struckmeyer organized a mini-quilt swap with the members of the Ann Arbor MQG. At Sunday’s meeting those who participated in the swap received the quilts made by their secret partners. The quilts our members received were all beautiful and perfectly tailored to their recipients. Big thanks to Amy for organizing and to Dorie Schwartz for organizing on the Ann Arbor side.

Pictures of all of our swap quilts, sent and received, are coming in a future blog post – be on the lookout for that!

Following the reveal of the mini quilts, five of our members demonstrated quick projects, ideal for the holiday gift giving season.

Emily B showed members how to make potholders.

Terry demonstrated ornaments using folded fabric.

Erika shared a pattern and technique for making a scissor case

Beth showed us how to make key fobs.

Donna introduced us to Morsbags and led us through the process of making them.

We really appreciate our members taking the time to share new techniques and ideas with us!
