The Chicago Modern Quilt Guild holds a bi-annual retreat (Spring and Fall) each year, and the last several years we have called The Siena Retreat Center in Racine, WI, our home-away-from-home for our group getaways. This is retreat to work on your own projects (bring a few!). Each person will have a spot to spread out, and the sewing room is open at all hours. The Siena Center is a very relaxing, welcoming place, run by Dominican Nuns.
The newly-built center is located in Racine, WI, right on Lake Michigan – and it’s gorgeous. Our group reserves the largest retreat room in the facility, the Oak Room, which allows us all a ton of space to let our creativity run wild!

Retreats include lodging and food; you have your own private room with private bathroom, and 3 square meals/day (dinner on arrival day, breakfast and lunch on departure day). We also have a fully-equipped kitchenette off of the sewing room with fridge, stove, coffee pots, kettles, and dishwasher. You’re welcome to bring food/snacks/drinks to have and share!
Some people enjoy sewing and visiting at a leisurely pace, and others go with a list and desire to get things done! It’s a fun time for all.
