Programming:

The Programming Committee met recently and have our meeting topics all ironed out for the next several months! Here’s what you can expect in upcoming meetings:
·         January: Member Trunk Show, interguild pincushion swap info, 2016 CMQG block of the month info and retreat lottery* (see below)
·         February: Sew-in (date to be announced)
·         March: “We Tried it for You!” – a meeting of reviews on patterns, tutorials, Craftsy classes, books and more! We’ll also be having a quick QuiltCon recap for those of us who were not able to attend the Modern Quilt Guild’s annual show.
·         April: Workshop and Lecture: “Beyond the Grid” – particulars to be announced
·         July: Workshop and Lecture: Latifah Safir – particulars to be announced
International Quilt Festival Special Exhibit Submissions:

Look for more information in a separate upcoming blog post regarding IQF submission guidelines, but make sure to mark your calendars, deadline for submission is February 12, 2016. Submissions open on December 12 if you happen to have your quilt ready to go!
A reminder: this is a special exhibit our guild has been invited to submit to. The theme is the Modern Drunkard’s Path block, and quilts must be at least 48”x48”. More information to follow on this, and, you can see our previous post on the exhibition {here}
Retreat – Spring 2016:

Please look for further information and electronic sign-up for the upcoming Spring retreat (March 11-14) in the coming weeks. The lottery for the March retreat will take place at the January meeting. Retreats are open to current (2016) members of the Chicago Modern Quilt Guild. To renew or submit your membership, please click {here}

Electronic sign-up was a huge success for the last retreat sign up and we’ll be using it again. Potential retreatants can fill out the online form and submit their electronic payment (credit card or PayPal) or mail their checks to the address provided well in advance of the January meeting.

Look for more information on this soon!
At the December meeting we had a wonderful potluck and holiday swap – it was a huge hit! We had a fantastic turnout, and there was lots of goodies and food to be had.
Several people participated in the Holiday gift swap and there were some fantastic gifts exchanged!
Thank you so much to all of our members – we are so lucky to have such a wonderfully cohesive and creative and friendly group as the Chicago Modern Quilt Guild!
See you at January’s meeting on Sunday, January 17, 2016!
