On the Blog: December Meeting – Potluck, Gift Exchange and More!

November 20, 2015
(Reminder: Membership renewals for the 2016 calendar year are due and are now payable online. Please visit {this page} to fill out our membership form and register your membership if you haven’t done so already. Thank you!)

Our December meeting is early in the month, due to the holiday season. Lucky us!  It’s only a couple weeks away.
Join us December 6th for a potluck, gift swap and more.
2:00pm to 5:00pm
Rush Oak Park Hospital
Centennial Room
520 S Maple Ave
Oak Park, IL 60304
We’ll share a potluck — please RSVP on the MQG forum stating if you’re planning on bringing something sweet or savory. If your dish will contain nuts, please let us know there as well – and please clearly label any nut dishes as some of our members have serious allergies.  Much thanks to Carole Wool and Kristyn Jansen for helping to organize the potluck.  If you’d like to help with set-up or clean-up, please let them know by leaving a comment on the same MQG forum post.

If you’ve never been to a Chicago Modern Quilt Guild meeting, and would like to join us for our December meeting, we would love to meet you! Our potlucks are always a lot of fun.
In addition to having time to eat and visit with each other, we’ll also swap our items for the Winter Gift Swap (more details below!), and share show-and-tell. Feel free to bring hand-sewing projects if you’d like, and wrap up some of those last minute gifts. And don’t forget about our new guild library!  Bring your book back and check out a new one, if you wish.
Winter Gift Swap details:
Who:  Any Chicago Modern Quilt Guild member who’d like to participate.
What:  A small sewn item.  Feel free to make one of the items demo’d at our October meeting: potholder, scissor case, key fob, Mors bag, or ornament.  Or make another small item of your choosing.

Here is the link to the September meeting recap if you’d like to refresh your memory on the demonstrations our members gave: {click here}
Other important swap information:
o   Please don’t use holiday themed fabrics, as we don’t all celebrate the same holidays.  Make something that can be enjoyed by all members.
o   Please DO NOT include any “extras” with your swap item.
o   One swap item per person, please.
o   Please wrap your item, but do not label it.
o   Finally, work to the best of your ability, but know there are no “quilt police” here!

If you’re on Instagram, feel free to tag your swap photos #ChicagoMQGgiftswap

We can’t wait to see you all there!
