In Support of “The Girls”

We’ve finally finished the Boob Quilt, which will directly help women in need gain access to breast cancer screenings!

Some of our members banded together over a year ago with the idea to make an original quilt in support of women with breast cancer. We’ve been working together to complete the quilt during the past year, and many of our members not only created original blocks for the quilt, but also helped in other ways to make this project a success.  Each of the 15 original quilt blocks depicts a slang term for the breast, all terms chosen and interpreted by the participants.  First row, from left to right: “Gazongas” by Sara Hochhauser

The quilt itself was completed with help from Tricia Royal, Emily Bruzzini and Erika Mulvenna, with long-arm quilting from Terri Karls. Special thanks to Sara Hochhauser for securing donated appraisal services from professional quilt appraiser Chris Moline. The Boob Quilt has been donated to A Silver Lining Foundation to help the organization further their mission of helping women in Chicago get access to breast cancer screening, and will be featured in A Sterling Event auction, the 11th annual fundraising event for the organization. Find out more about A Sterling Event (if you want to bid on the Boob Quilt, you’ll need to get tickets!) by visiting the event page here.
