November 19 Meeting: What To Do with UnFinished (Quilty) Objects (UFOs)

November 13, 2017

The November meeting will focus on UFOs…those unfinished quilt projects we all have lurking around our sewing and storage spaces, taking up mental and physical space.

hmmmmm…what to do with these blocks?

Debbie Pine and Heather Kinion will lead the group through some tips and tricks to get your UFO situation under control, and to help motivate you to work on yours instead of letting it linger. That will be followed by small group discussions over some real projects from the closets of our guild members.

And of course there will be guild announcements, as well as show and tell.

Please join us on Sunday, November 19 from 2-5pm at the Centennial Room on the second floor of Rush Oak Park Hospital. And we may still have room for your UFO; please contact Heather if you are interested in bringing yours (although we are full up on “How do I quilt this?” quilts).

who among us doesn’t have a stack of UFOs?

Other relevant information and things to bring:

The 2018 CMQG membership renewal drive has begun! Please sign up before November 30. We will have devices at the meeting to help you sign up, as well.

If you signed up for the mini quilt swap and want to provide a fabric swatch as inspiration for your partner, please bring it to the meeting in a small paper bag or opaque envelope (something that won’t allow others to see what it is). Emily will make sure it gets to your secret swap partner without them knowing it’s from you! If you signed up for the swap, but haven’t received an email with your partners information, please email Emily Lang to let her know.

If you’ve completed any foundation paper string blocks (materials were handed out at the August and September meetings), please bring those. This will be an ongoing project, so don’t worry if you haven’t gotten to them yet.

If you signed up to make a block for the QuiltCon charity quilt, it is due at the December 10 meeting. However, if you’ve already finished it or won’t be at the December meeting, you can bring it this month.  Questions? Contact Amy Struckmeyer.

All meetings are 2-5 pm on the third Sunday of the month, unless otherwise noted.

This month’s meeting is on Sunday, November 19
