It’s Time to Register for the Fall 2018 Retreat

It’s Fall retreat registration time! Hooray!

The Venue:

The Chicago Modern Quilt Guild holds two retreats per year (Spring and Fall) at the beautiful Siena Center in Racine, WI, our home away from home for group getaways.

This is a retreat to work on your own projects (be sure to bring a few!) and perhaps work on a charity project. Each person will have a spot to spread out, and our spacious sewing room is open 24 hours a day. The Siena Center is a very relaxing and welcoming space located directly on Lake Michigan and run by Dominican Nuns.

The newly renovated space is located a short drive from Chicago in Racine, WI. Our group reserves the largest retreat room in the facility, the Oak Room, which allows us plenty of space to let our creativity run wild!

What’s Included?

Retreats include food (most dietary restrictions can be accommodated) and lodging with your own private sleeping room and bathroom. The retreat also includes 24-hour access to the Oak Room, which also has a fully-equipped kitchenette with a fridge, stove, coffee pots, kettles, and dishwasher. You are welcome to bring food, snacks, and drinks for yourself or to share.

Retreats also feature giveaways, a scrap table, and plenty of time to get to know your fellow guild members. There are ice breakers, shared meals, and lots of silliness.

Some people enjoy sewing and visiting at a leisurely pace, and others come with a to-do list and speed through projects. It’s a fun time for everyone, and seeing the projects we finish is one of the most fun things about retreat!

Dates:

This year’s retreat has two options for Chicago Modern Quilt Guild members who choose to participate:

$196 2-night (3-day) option: October 12-14 2018 (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
$288 3-night (4-day) option: October 12-15 2018 (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday)

Check-in time is no earlier than 1:30pm on Friday. For those leaving on Sunday, the noon meal is the last meal included in your fee. You must be out of your sleeping room by noon, but you are welcome to stay through the evening.

Please be prepared to pay for your dinner on Sunday if you plan to stay through the evening.

For those staying through Monday, you must be out of your sleeping room by noon, and we must have everything cleared out of the sewing room promptly at 5pm. The noon meal is the last meal on Monday.

Payment Options:

Your full payment is due on or prior to September 16, 2018, in order to be considered for the lottery (explained below). Payment options include:

PayPal or Credit Card: The secure online registration form below allows you the option of paying by PayPal. You do not need a PayPal account to use PayPal, and can pay by credit card without creating a PayPal account. Please make sure to follow the link at the end of the form to be redirected to the payment screen. This is our preferred payment option.
Check (dropped off at the August or September meetings): If you choose to bring your check to the meeting, please leave it at the membership table at the beginning of the meeting. Be sure to include your name, address, email address, phone number, and and weather you are signing up for 3 or 4 days on your envelope.

Lottery Procedure:

Retreats sponsored by the Chicago Modern Quilt Guild are open to all current guild members who have paid dues. In the event that there are more than 24 members registering, spots will be determined by a lottery procedure at the February meeting. More information about the lottery procedure can be found here.

For those who choose to pay electronically (PayPal or credit card), your payment will be refunded in the event that you do not obtain a spot at retreat. If you’ve decided to pay by check, your check will be returned to you.
