Get Excited: Lynn Carson Harris is Coming to CMQG!

May 16, 2018

Got summer plans of quilting? Great! Join us in welcoming Lynn Carson Harris July 14 and 15.

On the 14th, we will have a tiny piecing workshop, where Lynn will teach us tips and tricks that make working small easier. She will share how to piece tiny stars and other small blocks, as well as small scale intuitive piecing.

At our meeting on July 15, Lynn will have a trunk show that includes the first quilt she made in 1976. She will also share with us that the steps of making a quilt are more meaningful than the completed quilt. Lynn focuses on the creative process rather than the finished product, allowing her studio to be filled with play and discovery. The trunk show will be free for members, and $10 for non-members.

Sign-ups for Lynn’s workshop will open to membership ONLY on May 26, 2018 at noon. Check your email that day to sign up for the workshop, which will cost $55 and has room for 20 people — lunch will not be included, so pack your own or be prepared to pick some up during the break.

Sign-ups are first come first served, so you will know if you are in or not as you fill out the registration and pay. In order to lock in your registration, you will need to pay online at sign up. Once the 20 spaces are filled, a wait list will be created, and if spaces become available, they will be filled from the waitlist.

Because we added this workshop to our roster much more recently than we normally book speakers, our location for the workshop has NOT been finalized at this time and we may not be able to publicize it before members only sign ups begin. We will announce it before registration opens to the public because we understand that location may be a factor in whether or not members may be able to attend. This also may effect the exact start and stop time, but we expect the time frame to be similar or the same as usual workshops: 10am-4 or 4:30pm depending on the break for lunch.

Registration will open to the general public on Tuesday, June 19, 2018.

It is up to members to notify the event coordinator (Programming Chair, Workshop, Retreat and Special Events Chair, or their designee) if they have to cancel or if they do not want to be waitlisted. The coordinator will attempt to fill open spaces from the waitlist. Due to the inability to announce the location at the start of registration, if you cancel within 10 days of the announcement of the location, you will get a full refund of your registration fee. IF you cancel after that date and the space is not filled, you will be responsible for the full cost of the workshop. If you are on the waitlist and you decline a spot, you will not be charged.

Whenever possible, refunds will be made via the method of the original payment. The board reserves the right to withhold a processing fee on PayPal payments.

A reminder: Check your email at noon on May 26 for a sign-up link.
