One weekend before QuiltCon, we gathered at Rush Hospital in Oak Park to hear Sue Pawlowski’s “Confessions of a Modern Quilter Wannabe.”
She wowed us by bringing in a whopping 600 pounds of quilts. And guild members took turns walking them around (so our arms wouldn’t fall off). We saw how she used scale, pattern, and color to achieve different effects with traditional blocks. It was amazing to see her pandemic project Return of the Swallows which included 5790 paper pieced flying geese (see below).
Sue’s patterns are all available for sale at Jack Squares Studio if she inspired you!
The Faith Ringgold exhibit has closed at the MCA but they generously gifted us 50 tickets and those are good for a year. Please email president@chicagomqg.com if you would like one and were not at the meeting.
Our board is up for election, and we will be voting on the slate in March. An email was sent out with the candidates’ bios. If you did not receive that information, email communications@chicagomqg.com.
We also look forward to March when a panel of guild member experts discuss all the different quilting methods in “How to Quilt It?” If you have a top you would like help with, please bring it in!
And lastly, we had a lovely time at show and tell as there were many bags and minis that are headed off to QuiltCon in Raleigh. If you are on Facebook, make sure to post your pictures in the Show and Tell albums in our members-only Facebook group.
