Don’t you ever wonder how they find the time? Laura does! \n\n\n\nAttendees will learn how other quilters manage their sewing time\, how they carve out moments\, and how they think about time spent on their craft at various seasons of life. This will be a fun exploration of how others manage to make time for making\, and will provide some realistic inspiration for how we can make the most of our precious time.  \n\n\n\nLaura Hartrich is an award-winning artist working primarily in fiber with a focus on quilts. DESCRIPTION:Explore the world around you by translating it into a pictorial quilt! In this step-by-step course\, we will translate your community’s buildings and architectural elements into foundation paper piecing designs that capture your world. We will start with an overview of how to break down an architectural image into piecable components. Then\, each participant will create a custom paper-pieced design featuring a building or architectural element of their choice using tracing paper and a pencil. (Techniques taught will translate to the computer programs of the participant’s choice once out of class.) We will finish the class by sewing a portion of the designs.

DESCRIPTION:Artists from the Chicago Modern Quilt Guild proudly celebrate their exhibition Take the Shirt Off My Back\, featuring 35 quilts fashioned with shirts from family\, friends\, thrift stores\, and the artists’ own closets. \n\n\n\nChicago Modern Quilt Guild presents a collection of quilts showcasing the work of their talented and creative members. Take the Shirt Off My Back showcases the bevy of beautiful\, inventive ways that materials can be repurposed\, reused\, and given new life. With consciousness of the widespread waste in the fabric and clothing industry\, repurposing and sustainability was at the heart of this challenge.   \n\n\n\nEach quilt tells a different story — sparking inspiration towards eco-friendliness in all parts of peoples’ lives — and hopes to leave a lasting impression on viewers. \n\n\n\nThe Chicago Modern Quilt Guild is an open-spirited community group\, including all. The group believes that respecting different cultures and gender identifications enriches and enhances the guild.
