August Guild Meeting – Sew in for Teen Living

August 26, 2013
August’s guild meeting was spent sewing away – working on our group charity projects for our Sew-to-serve charity, Teen Living. As Holly says, “Teen Living’s goal is to help homeless teens achieve permanent independence and self-sufficiently while addressing basic needs of food, shelter, and clothing. In December teens are given holiday packets and a blanket or comforter is included. Teen Living program director Michelle Goldberg says that quilts (at least 68″ x 88″) will be happily received and distributed.”

We’re encouraging guild members to form small groups to work on these quilts (as the quilts are larger in size than we’re used to doing for our charity projects). Several groups have formed feel free to join a group, or start your own on the BigTent forums! These projects will need to be finished by the November 17th guild meeting. Let us know if you need help meeting this deadline – we’re all working together on this one!

Also at this meeting, we held the lottery for our fall retreat at the Sienna Center in Racine, WI. All entrants in the lottery received a spot at the retreat, and there are a couple remaining spots. Contact our treasurer Sara Evans for more information.

Finally, the winners of our Calender Challenge were announced today as well. Check BigTent for the full list, or stop by the blog later this week!
